New CAM-AMCHAM Expedited Arbitration Rules

The Centro de Arbitragem e Mediação da AMCHAM officially launched its new Expedited Arbitration Rules during the first edition of the Inovarb Summit, an event dedicated to young arbitration practitioners.

The Rules are the result of a collaborative process involving the Inovarb Group, the Secretariat, and the Advisory Board of CAM-AMCHAM – which includes the participation of our partner, Vania Wongtschowski Kleiman.

The Rules aim to make proceedings faster, more accessible, and aligned with international best practices, while maintaining the expected quality standards in arbitration. Key aspects include automatic application to disputes of up to BRL 3 million (unless the parties decide otherwise), streamlined deadlines for appointing arbitrators and submitting responses, greater emphasis on documentary evidence, and preference for holding hearings virtually when necessary. The goal is to ensure efficiency, speed, and cost control without compromising the quality of the arbitral procedure.

The new text came into effect on November 28, 2025, and may also be applied to proceedings initiated earlier, provided that the terms of reference are executed after that date.
